RENAULT OXYGEN PROTOTYPE IN TESTING
Renault Trucks has launched an experimental vehicle called Oxygen, a fully electric vehicle weighing around 16 tonnes and designed to tackle the daily challenges of urban logistics.
It is called Oxygen because oxygen is a fundamental component for the functioning of the vehicle, as it integrates all the constraints and uses of urban delivery, eliminating all the inconveniences that may arise with a clear improvement in road safety.
The new truck is equipped with a very low cabin to offer the driver a clear view, a large windscreen and many cameras that replace the rear-view mirrors, offering a complete 360° vision.
The vehicle is equipped with a sliding side door and the driver can exit both from the right and left side easily thanks to a much lower height than a traditional truck.
The modernity of the vehicle is ensured thanks to the presence of LED lights and the camera screens provide a better view for the detection of pedestrians and other road users.
Being an experimental vehicle, Renault Trucks put it on the road to continue its research and development work and last October a further testing phase was concluded in Amsterdam and starting from 1 January 2025 the Dutch municipalities will define some zero emission zones, where the vehicle can circulate. This further experimental phase will allow the refrigerated vehicle to be tested and deliveries from the warehouse to the supermarket without emitting noise, without polluting and in complete safety. The implementation of this pilot project will allow nature to be preserved and the environmental impact to be reduced in view of the reduction of CO2 emissions by 2030.
