TESTING HAS BEGUN FOR THE NEW FUEL CELL TRUCK FROM MERCEDES-BENZ
In the field of sustainable mobility, research and studies continue so that a completely hydrogen-powered truck can be a consolidated reality. Beyond the prototypes that are being tested, it will take at least three years for such a vehicle to lend a hand to electric vehicles and therefore mark a further step towards the difficult path of ecological transition.
In this field, Mercedes-Benz likes to respect the timetable it has set itself and this is why the GenH2 prototypes continue tirelessly with the long road tests that the engineers of the German car manufacturer are carrying out in more load and climate conditions. disparate.
The road tests involved the Apennine reliefs such as the crossing of the Brenner Pass, which is one of the main arteries of European freight traffic. The truck with the GenH2 prototype also traveled this stretch of road with a loaded semi-trailer with truly surprising results. Brenner represents an ideal starting point, as there is one of the very few hydrogen refueling stations and then again the conformation of the territory is suitable for this type of experimentation to verify the performance of the fuel cell system under stress and at various altitude levels. The objective we intend to achieve is to develop an autonomy of more than 1,000 km.
