MARKET FLUSH IN JULY AND AUGUST FOR TRAILERS AND SEMI-TRAILERS
The trailer and semi-trailer market continues to suffer in the months of July and August, but not due to the high summer temperatures, but due to the sales crisis that still affects this strategic transport sector.
The data provided by the UNRAE Study and Statistics Center confirm the inexorable period of difficulty that this sector has been experiencing for some time now and the trend concerns the market of towed vehicles with a total mass on the ground exceeding 3.5 tonnes
July 2023 vs 2022: -12% (1,399 units registered versus 1,590)
August 2023 vs August 2022: -22.6% (908 units registered versus 1,173).
The UNRAE institute hopes that in the coming months the market will be able to benefit from the impetus given by public contributions, which have not been lacking in any case, in order to be able to purchase the latest generation towed vehicles and asks the Government to review the subsidy scheme, replacing it with a fund multi-year hoc for the purchase of towed vehicles. Furthermore, given that we are in a time of revision of the Highway Code, UNRAE still requests the Government to ensure that Italy follows the example of other European Union countries, allowing the circulation of extended vehicles in compliance with the limit of 18 .75 meters to make travel more efficient and reduce emissions from freight transport.
