HEAVY VEHICLE INSPECTION: WHEN AND HOW MUCH IT COSTS
Like all vehicles, even heavy vehicles must be inspected and the highway code is very precise on this point, identifying times, methods and costs to carry out the inspection of trucks, which is a legal obligation that must be complied with on time pre-established to avoid unpleasant sanctions.
The inspection of trucks must be carried out 4 years after the first registration for all load weights, but subsequently the deadlines are annual for trucks with over 35 quintals of maximum load, while the deadline is every two years for vehicles up to 35 quintals of load maximum. These deadlines are very important and must be respected to guarantee the safety of road circulation of the vehicle, because otherwise the code provides for a fairly steep pecuniary penalty which starts from a minimum of 169 to a maximum of 679 euros. The price of the fine can double if the deadlines have not been respected more than once, thus going from a minimum of 338 to a maximum of 1,358 euros.
Whoever carries out the overhaul of the truck must check a series of aspects useful for the correct maintenance of the trucks and that is, he must carry out the overhaul on the mechanics, the tires and all those components in order to optimize safety, emissions and noise.
As with cars, a correct and periodic overhaul allows the vehicle to be efficient and to travel long distances without slowing down due to the wear of the components and which break during the journeys. Furthermore, the periodic inspection saves money, because with less extraordinary maintenance, the vehicles live longer and consume less fuel when on the move.
