VOLVO TRUCKS LAUNCHES A NEW BIOGAS TRUCK
Among the commercial innovations just released on the market, we have the new biogas truck by Volvo Trucks to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This more robust vehicle than traditional models is suitable for longer transports and is capable of running on liquefied biogas, often called bio-LNG, a renewable fuel that can be produced in large quantities from waste from food waste.
Finally an excellent alternative to traditional fuels that can be added to electric transport, satisfying the ambitions of hauliers who aim for sustainable transport with zero climate impact.
The biogas powered trucks are the FH and FM models and have nothing to envy compared to their diesel equivalents; moreover, refueling is almost as fast as a diesel truck thanks also to the capillary supply network that is being created both in Italy and in Europe for biogas in long-distance transport.
The Volvo CEO declares himself very happy with the commercial offer created and hopes that various technical solutions will be adopted in the future so that the availability of energy and fuel infrastructures is as uniform as possible, because the system differs from country to country.
Furthermore, by 20230 the production of biogas should increase rapidly, gradually replacing fossil fuels. The European Commission recently presented a plan which plans to increase the annual production of biogas by ten times the current quantity, because demand is not only growing in Europe, but in all other countries and therefore we need to be ready for these new commercial challenges . Let´s give some numbers: the annual production of biogas should increase from 10 to 35 billion cubic meters again by the fateful 2030 and more than 78 plants are already ready to go into operation by 2024.
