IN JUNE 2022 FIFTH CONSECUTIVE DECREASE IN THE COMMERCIAL VEHICLE MARKET WHILE THE TRUCK MARKET IS POSITIVE
Unfortunately, the fifth consecutive decline in the sale of commercial vehicles is part of an economic crisis that was not needed and with inflation so high that it had not been seen since 1986. In June, in fact, the trucks that have a weight up to 3.5 tons, which were registered, were 13,166, practically, -23.5% compared to the same period last year.
As usual, this was communicated by the UNRAE Study and Statistics Center, which provides a merciless picture of the situation of vehicles in general, which we have given space many times in this section. So far in this first half of the year, only January has been positive, but that alone fails to lift the fortunes of a period that records a decline of 11.1% compared to the same period in 2021.
Yet the government has also adopted a certain incentive-based policy for trucks, which continues, however, very slowly. Just to give some numbers: of the 10 million euros allocated by the state for the purchase of new trucks, only 6% has been allocated. So there is something wrong and the cause lies in the fact that the purchase of new trucks concerns pure electric vehicles, excluding traditional combustion vehicles, that is vehicles that still dominate the Italian fleet.
To incentivize the purchase of these electric vehicles, a solid infrastructure network is needed, also by resorting to tax relief to stimulate the installation of recharges by individuals.
In this certainly not positive scenario, a light can be glimpsed at the end of the tunnel and concerns the market for other types of vehicles which, on the other hand, was positive in June 2022.
Towed vehicles are up in double digits (+ 13.4%), as well as semi-trailers which register + 15.6%, but as we have already said, all this is not enough to revive a sector that has recently emerged from the pandemic, but it has entered dangerously into the crisis due to the increase in the prices of raw materials and fuels.
