PROVISIONS CONCERNING INITIAL QUALIFICATION AND PERIODIC TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS
Considering the need to dictate new coordinated provisions regarding initial qualification courses and periodic training for the achievement of the CQC qualification (Driver Qualification Card), the related examination procedures and subjects providing courses and qualifications certifying said qualification, in order to implement the computerization of the communication procedures for the start of the course and attestation of the attendance of the students of the lessons and considered appropriate to the issuance of a new, single and organic provision on the subject of initial qualification courses and periodic training for the achievement of the CQC qualification, the related examination procedures and course providers, a decree of the Minister of Infrastructures implementing a European directive in transportation of things and people theme.
For what concerns us in this section, we will deal with the aspect concerning the recognition in Italy of qualification cards obtained abroad. The recently approved amendment establishes that foreign EU citizens who have their registered residence in Italy and non-EU citizens hired by a trucking company based in Italy must obtain or renew the card by following training courses in Italy.
Through special driving schools accredited by the ministry, it is possible to attend the aforementioned courses and take the exam which consists of a test to be carried out with a computer system, using a questionnaire extracted from a database prepared by the civil motorization according to a method of randomness.
Once the test has been passed, the document is issued which has a five-year validity and periodically the holder undergoes periodic training which is divided into thirty-five hours of theoretical lessons, divided into five modules of seven hours each, divided into the common part of the program and specialist part.
