MEASURES IN SUPPORT OF TRANSPORT COMPANIES
With the conversion law 21 May 2021, n. 69 of the first Support Decree, further measures are introduced to support road transport companies which, like many other economic sectors, have suffered various damages in consideration of the serious effects deriving from the epidemiological emergency from Covid-19.
The measures that have been introduced support freight transport companies on behalf of third parties, registered in the National Register of natural and legal persons who carry out the transport of goods on behalf of third parties and concern greater funds for the renewal of the vehicle fleet, in the expenses management costs incurred for long journeys and investment expenses.
In addition, the non-application for the year 2021 is important, within the maximum expenditure limit of 1.4 million euros of the obligation to contribute to the Transport Regulatory Authority. This body, established in 2011 with headquarters at the Lingotto in Turin, is competent in the transport sector and access to related infrastructures. Its tasks also include defining the minimum quality conditions for transport services and the minimum content of users´ rights vis-à-vis the operators of transport services and infrastructures.
To ensure the exercise of these activities, the Transport Regulatory Authority needs a contribution from the operators and is equal to 0.6 per thousand of the turnover resulting from the last approved budget.
Well, with this provision, the road haulage companies are not required but only for this year not to pay anything.
