COMMERCIAL COLLABORATIONS BETWEEN CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES INCREASE TO IMPLEMENT SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT
In this periodically updated column, we have talked many times about sustainable development which is a goal to be achieved by 2030 to start sustainable development that combines environmental protection and economy.
There are many examples of new models of heavy vehicles or simple electric commercial vehicles with low polluting emissions, manufacturers are adapting, also entering into important commercial collaborations to comply with what are now the standards of European legislation and to implement sustainable transport. One of these is the collaboration between Volvo Trucks and Ica Sweden to work together and design a fleet made up entirely of electric vehicles.
The cooperation includes a transport program that in 2021 will lead to a complete new range of heavy duty vehicles with electric powertrain starting in Sweden and then expanding across Europe and North America.
Volvo Trucks is investing heavily in electrification and marks an important step towards fossil-free transportation. As we said, sales will start next year, while series production from 2022.
The vehicles, which will have a gross total weight of up to 44 tons, are of the Volvo FL Electric type and will carry out an activity of distribution and collection of urban waste.
The shift from fossil fuels to alternative forms of mobility will be gradual and pending the complete elimination of fossil fuels by Volvo Trucks in 2040, the Swedish company aims to start selling electric vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells for long-term transportation demanding radius, even with heavy load.
