CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY: TACHOGRAPH CARD ISSUING PROCEDURES

Some time ago in this section we talked about the new legislation on the issue of new tachograph cards which since June 15, 2019 are new generation with technological devices to which all vehicles must be used, registered after that date and carrying goods with a mass greater than 3.5 tons.
The vehicles already in circulation before June 2019, however, have the old tools that remained valid until their natural expiration, and the renewal consisted of adapting to the new technological device. But what if old cards expire in this coronavirus emergency period and new devices can´t be installed? Do truck drivers face penalties for checks?
Absolutely not! The Ministry of the Interior, in fact, has ordered in a circular dated March 24, 2020 that no sanction must be applied against the driver, who has carried out the manual registrations, provided that he has with him the receipt of the submission of the application for release / renewal dated after February 23, 2020.
