DAIMLER TRUCKS: TRUCKS DRIVERS TEST NEW DIGITAL SYSTEMS
In the coming weeks, Daimler Trucks engineers will carry out tests to check new digital systems in truck driving; in the near future, in fact, if the results give a positive outcome, drivers will be able to experience the thrill of driving a truck by simply sliding a finger on a touch screen or downloading an app.
The tests will be carried out using special digital driving simulators installed on Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks in the rear compartment in service areas along the main German roads, where the vehicles will stop.
These tests also serve to verify what kind of approach the drivers have in their usual work environment and to allow the developers of the Dimler to quickly have a large number of truck drivers and thus have more reliable results for their research.
During the test drivers will wear special 3D glasses for virtual reality, through which you can observe the virtual image of the dashboard and the various driving situations, having a multifunction steering wheel at your disposal.
In this first phase the engineers are studying the ease of use of the menu navigation that will be used for the future dashboard screens, as well as the degree of appreciation by drivers.
