THE GEELY POINTS ON METHANOL TRUCKS
The Asian market is also abuzz, especially the Chinese company Geely new energy commercial vehicle group (GCV), which has been experimenting with methanol engines for over ten years, a fuel derived from gasified organic materials with high octane numbers and ascertained anti-detonating properties. In a nutshell, a non-polluting fuel and for China, one of the most industrialized countries in the world where the problem of pollution is serious, having trucks or heavy vehicles in general capable of significantly reducing pollutants in the atmosphere, is one thing important. The Chinese company through the subsidiary Yuan Cheng Auto announced the launch and sale of the M100 model, the first heavy truck powered by this fuel and is offered in three variants: standard, mountain and regional logistics.
As for the engine of this model, we are talking about an inline 6-cylinder turbo intercooler of 12.54 liters with 460 hp, EGR exhaust gas recirculation and three-way catalyst. China has made great strides in this field, gaining a good share of the market, because these technologies contribute to ensuring good performance and high reliability as well as low emissions compared to the diesel engine.
In the near future, Geely plans to further expand its presence in the commercial vehicle market with a complete line of tractors, dump trucks and other methanol or hybrid models.
