NEW MERCEDES-BENZ ACTROS CONTROL SYSTEM

NEW MERCEDES-BENZ ACTROS CONTROL SYSTEM
The Trucks division of the car manufacturer Mercedes has developed a new system that raises the bar even further. After the introduction of assisted driving, German industry engineers have optimized a system, which was already present in the onboard instrumentation as early as 2016, with the introduction of an advanced version of the turning assistance system, minimizing the risk of traffic accidents.
Previously the system sent the alert messages through a led light on the front upright inside the cabin, while now the system uses a MirroCam display to send a visual signal to the driver if a stationary object appears on the right and left movement, thus signaling the presence of cyclists or pedestrians.
The MirrorCam and the turning system are not two distinct and separate instruments, but work in synergy avoiding confusing the truck driver and concentrating all the relevant operations in a single position. This system replaces the main wide-angle mirrors, since the cameras installed a little everywhere allow the driver to have a more complete view of the two sides and to have a free oblique view forward at the height of the front uprights.
The MirrorCam is, in fact, automatically oriented with an optimal adjustment before the engines start, showing a complete image from every perspective even when cornering, when the image of the camera rotates to allow the driver to always keep the trailer tail. Finally, when the vehicle is maneuvering in reverse, the driver also has a special wide-angle view and contributes to improving fuel consumption, thanks to the special aerodynamic design of the camera that has replaced the exterior rear-view mirrors.
