THE ELECTRIC MOTORWAY ARRIVES IN ITALY

THE ELECTRIC MOTORWAY ARRIVES IN ITALY
In the rest of Europe an experimental project is being carried out, which involves the electrification of entire motorway sections. Already in the United States they represent a reality and soon even in Italy you could have the first electrified highway for road transport of goods with zero environmental impact. It would be a real revolution in the field of transport, because the trucks would travel as if they were trolleybuses with an elimination of the effects of exhaust gases.
Italy has also applied for testing and the Ministry for Infrastructures and Transport has proposed the A35 Brebemi, which connects Brescia to Milan and will be the new stage of experimentation for trucks carrying goods; the affected motorway section has a total length of about 6 kilometers while in the second phase, once the goodness of the project and the economic sustainability of the operation have been verified, it will be possible to proceed with the electrification of the entire viaduct.
It seems easy to say that to do, but in reality the project does not provide things from the other world, but simply the use of photovoltaic panels while the heavy vehicles involved will be equipped with an electric motor powered through a pantograph, such as urban trams. If the electrified trucks want to overtake or leave the highway, just detach from the contact line, located about 5.5 meters above the lane, and take advantage of the electric battery they have. No gas or other fuel that can damage the environment.
The Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport did not choose this stretch of motorway by chance, but it was the result of careful selection, because the Autobahn 35 is one of the most modern in Europe. The idea of this project comes from the collaboration between Scania, a Swedish truck manufacturer, which already in the Scandinavian country has been working for several years on the electrification of the E16 motorway near the town of Gävle and works on the construction of three new electrified highways in Germany .
