SCANIA XT DRIVING OVERLAND
Scania is a Swedish company that manufactures industrial vehicles, trucks and tractor units and at the end of 2017 has put on the market the new SCANIA XT range with a series of vehicles to face the most difficult challenges both on the asphalt and on land for off-road use. . Having these vehicles of uses that are not suitable for the urban fabric, they have been equipped with very strong protruding bumpers of 15 cm and the front area can be further strengthened with the skid plate and the protective grille for the headlights; moreover these monsters are also equipped with a big hook to tow weights for 40 tons.
The rear-view mirrors are ultra robust, there are also additional lights embedded on the roof while the cab has seats in special XT version, rubber mats with raised edges, storage compartments and an additional module that allows you to extend the dashboard and allow the installation of further commands. It is available for all versions of P, G, R and S series cabs and for all engines.
With the economy program (ideal for mixed routes) there is a software that favors fuel economy.
For these characteristics, the SCANIA XT model was chosen to lead the twentieth edition of the Overland expedition, which this year will cross the African continent: Morocco, Cameroon, Chad, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt, for a total of 45,000 kilometers for launch a message of peace and solidarity.
The expedition needed an extremely reliable means of great quality and robustness, especially for a varied territory such as Africa, which is desert, savannah, swamp, forest, sand, dust, earth, sultry heat and pungent cold, covering distances endless on roads often not even present.
