The heavy goods market is particularly alive and presents for 2019 several new releases, which not only improve performance, but also the impact on the environment.
As already mentioned in the article about CNG trucks, the Stralis 400 NP has come out with a yield that is close to that of traditional diesel trucks, but the future holds other interesting innovations, which totally overcome the problem of zero emissions with absolutely electric means, respectful of the environment even if we have to wait in some cases that the eternal phase of the experimentation is concluded and that the electric trucks have batteries with a reasonable cost / efficiency ratio.
The Tesla Semi is arriving in 2019, an electric-powered semitrailer, which was premiered on November 16th, 2017 with the peculiarity that the driver´s cab provides the driver at the center and forward for greater visibility of the road while driving. Operating costs should be at least 20% lower than a diesel truck and normal rail transport.
The new Nikola Motor Company responds to Tesla´s competitors with the Nikola One full size model with six electric motors, 320 kmh of batteries and hydrogen fuel cells for a total of 1,900 km of range. It is so avant-garde that the cockpit provides a 4K TV, an apple TV and a refrigerator on board.
Mercedes Benz has already started with its customers an experimentation with the e-Actros electric truck to verify its impact in daily working life. If the experimentation will have the success that is hoped for in the German car manufacturer, it will be a model to be distributed in 2019.
Also in 2019 Renault-Trucks will commercialize electric trucks and support the normal means for more sustainable mobility. Now electric vehicles will be the only solution that will allow trucks to enter the city centers, because in addition to canceling exhaust emissions, they are also silent and can operate outside peak times, reducing traffic congestion and noise pollution.
And finally, let´s take a look at the truly futuristic future with Enride T-pod that the company Enride has designed to have an electric-powered truck with a total weight of 20 tons. The main feature of this vehicle is the total absence of the cab, because it exploits the autonomous driving technology and can be remotely controlled. We do not talk about it for the moment, to put it on the market, because a prototype has been presented, but we must now get used to the idea of having not only a greener future, but also less dependent on man.
