METHION TRUCKS: ZERO EMISSIONS BUT WHAT PRODUCTIVITY?

METHION TRUCKS: ZERO EMISSIONS BUT WHAT PRODUCTIVITY?
Today the protection of the environment has become fundamental and those who buy a vehicle, a car or a truck, pay particular attention to those vehicles that have an impact that is respectful of the ecosystem that surrounds us.
In the specific case, the latest generation of trucks have been replaced by diesel and methane fuel, and have the advantage of having 97% less emissions of nitrogen monoxide and particulate matter. The latter, for those who do not know, is a highly polluting and harmful to human health, because the residues of the combustion "float" in the air with the risk of being inhaled; on the other hand, the methane traction of vehicles is much safer for the environment and also for the wallet.
When we talk about the fuel economy of methane trucks, we refer to the savings that you get with fuel, because a heavy diesel truck makes an average of 2.8 km with a liter and if you go from Milan to Reggio Calabria and back a trucker travels on average 2,500 km with a diesel cost of around 1,150 euros, while a natural gas truck spends 874 euros, thus saving 275 euros net. So a transport company can not import the ecological discourse, but it can not neglect the economic one, which is very important.
But it is not all that glitters gold, because we must also look at the productivity that a natural gas truck can give compared to the diesel one; First of all, natural gas ones cost more, but transport companies know that there are state incentives to help road haulage companies improve their fleet of vehicles, from € 25 million in aid to around € 36 million in subsidies.
Another objection that could be made on the profitability of methane trucks is on performance, because they have fewer horses and a more limited yield especially on the uphill, but even this objection can be disproved by the fact that a new truck model has just come out on the market in methane, the Stralis 400 from IVECO, which has similar performances to that of a normal 400-horsepower diesel truck.
One last objection concerns the refueling of these vehicles, because in Italy there are still not many service stations, which supply methane, but this objection Federmetano feels quite comfortable to counter, because the new Stralis 400 have an autonomy that can reach 1,500 kilometers and the sector is growing strongly.
